BOX OFFICE

(Paramount)

G.I. Joe: Retaliation is set to blast away the box office competition, with early estimates putting the movie — starring The Rock, Channing Tatum, and Bruce Willis — at $40 million for the holiday weekend.

That would put the action sequel ahead of last week’s champ The Croods ($27 million estimated) and the new Tyler Perry production Temptation: Confessions of a Marriage Counselor ($22 million estimated).

White House takeover thriller Olympus Has Fallen is expected to finish in fourt place at roughly $13.5 million, outpacing The Host ($12.5 million), the new alien invasion adaptation from Twilight author Stephenie Meyer.

Oz the Great and Powerful is tracking toward $10.5 million and the #6 spot.

Halle Berry’s The Call ($4.5 million) should edge Tina Fey’s Admission ($3.5 million) for seventh place, with Spring Breakers ($2.5 million) and The Incredible Burt Wonderstone ($1.4 million) rounding out the Top 10.

Gossip Cop will have updates.
