Shia LaBeouf has declared that his endless plagiarism and apology spectacle was “performance art.”

The combative actor, who head-butted a bar patron this week, posted two lengthy statements on Twitter on Saturday, using the hashtag #StopCreating and the title “Twitter As Art” (see below).

He explains, “Performance art has been a way of appealing directly to a large public, as well as shocking audiences into reassessing their own notions of art and its relation to culture.”

According to LaBeouf, his Twitter handle @TheCampaignBook represents “meta-modernist performance art.”

“All art is either plagarisum (sic) or revolution & to be revolutionary in art today, is to be reactionary. In the midst of being embroiled in acts of intended plagiarism, the world caught me & I reacted,” claims the actor.

He continues, “The show began. I became completely absorbed, oblivious to things around me.”

It goes on from there, with LaBeouf taking credit for starting a “broad cultural discussion that needs to be had about plagiarism in the digital age & celebrity/social media absurdity.”

The star then posted a long list of “Performance a#RT” tenets.

He concluded by tweeting, “#StopHeadButting.”

Rupert Grint opens up in The Guardian about watching Shia LaBeouf drop acid on the set of The Necessary Death of Charlie Countryman.

As Gossip Cop previously reported, LaBeouf decided to take the drug during production because his character in the film does LSD.

But Grint says the results were not pretty.

The Harry Potter star reveals, “He smashed the place up, got naked and kept [hallucinating] this owl.”

“If anything will make you not do drugs, it’s watching that,” adds Grint.

Jenny McCarthy Defends Jim Carrey As “Great Father,” Slams Shia LaBeouf

Jenny McCarthy defended her ex-boyfriend Jim Carrey and slammed Shia LaBeouf on Tuesday’s “The View.”

At Sunday’s Golden Globes, Carrey made a dig at LaBeouf’s plagiarism scandal, leading the younger actor to lash out and attack Carrey’s parenting.

LaBeouf tweeted, “At least I don’t get arrested for indecency on major LA highways! Or abandon love child’s,” also posting a YouTube video of Carrey’s daughter Jane’s band.”

While the Transformers star later apologized, McCarthy wanted to have her say on Tuesday’s show.

She declared, “You can attack myself, but don’t bring my children into it. And I’m sure it’s the same for Jim.”

“Jim and I have become friends now since our breakup,” McCarthy continued. “We dated for five years and I got to know his daughter, Jane, who is a lovely, lovely girl. It’s completely uncalled for and wrong.”

McCarthy added, “Jim is a great father. He loves Jane more than anything in the world. Shia did apologize and Jim did take it, but the whole thing is, do not bring our children into it.”

What do you think about McCarthy’s response to LaBeouf?
