Selena Gomez is being wrongly linked to a “mystery man” by a number of careless outlets speculating about a possible new romance for the star.

The actress-singer was spotted chatting to an unidentified gentleman with blond hair at a Sundance Film Festival party hosted by Grey Goose on Monday.

Gomez, who is at the festival for her new movie Rudderless, briefly performed at the soiree and was seen for much of the evening alongside her male companion.

But don’t believe any reports alleging that Gomez has a new beau.

A source close to the star tells Gossip Cop the man in question is ”just a friend.”

There you have it.

Selena Gomez Was NOT At Justin Bieber’s House On Night of Egging, Despite Report

Truth rating: 0

EXCLUSIVE

Selena Gomez was NOT at Justin Bieber’s house the night he allegedly threw eggs at a neighbor’s property, despite yet another bogus RadarOnline report.

The outlet, which once believed a complete fraud’s tales about goings-on at Bieber’s home, now says that cops who are investigating the reported vandalism “could question” Gomez “because she was THERE.”

This is 100 percent false.

According to RadarOnline, Gomez “had attended a party at Bieber’s home with a group of pals” but (conveniently for the site) “left before cops arrived on the scene that night.”

“Gomez’s presence at Bieber’s home on the night of the egging is a surprising post-script to their [sic] pair’s falling out,” says the blog.

She wasn’t present at the home.

RadarOnline has no idea what’s going on with this story, still insisting, for instance, that Bieber sent Gomez “X-rated nude photos” last week during a “bitter texting fight.”

As Gossip Cop already reported, those texts are fake – and we’ve since had additional sources confirm that those messages never happened.

Now we’ve learned that the new RadarOnline story about Gomez being with Bieber on the evening of the reported vandalism incident is also false.

“Selena was not at Justin’s house, and in fact, was not even in town,” a source close to Gomez tells Gossip Cop about the night of the alleged egging.

The reason cops never talked to Gomez about it is because she wasn’t even in Los Angeles — let alone at Bieber’s house.

While other outlets blindly speculate as they go, Gossip Cop will stick to the facts in the ongoing Bieber situation.

Selena Gomez Talks Lorde Feud And What Demi Lovato Taught Her In Seventeen

Truth rating: 10

1:20 pm, January 18th, 2014

(Seventeen)

Selena Gomez talks about her friendships and feuds in an upcoming Seventeen cover story.

The performer says that despite Lorde’s apparent problem with her, she has respect for the teenage New Zealander’s talents.

Gomez says, “I recently did an interview and they asked me who I thought was up-and-coming and making a difference. I said, ‘She doesn’t like me, but Lorde.’ I’m going to support her whether she likes me or not because I think she’s doing great things.”

“I’ve never met her, but she’s extremely talented, and she has a voice that she likes to use, and I think that’s great,” explains the “Come & Get It” singer. “Some day I will see her and we’ll be cool.”

Of course, Gomez has strong friendships with other female superstars.

She tells Seventeen, “I love my girl friends more than I’ve loved any of my boyfriend because they have supported me, loved me, and always stood by my side. Some girls will drop you in five seconds for the right guy. That’s not how it’s supposed to be.”

“That’s why I love Demi [Lovato] and Taylor [Swift] — they support females and love to have that empowerment!” explains Gomez. “I wish girls would stop hurting each other.”

She credits Lovato with helping her learn to speak her mind.

“You can’t be afraid of what people are going to say, because you’re never going to make everyone happy,” says Gomez. “Girls are scared of saying what they want. So when you don’t like something, you have to say it. Demi taught me that.”

She continues, “Just saying it out loud is the first step to taking away the fear. It took me a long time to be able to say what I wanted — even with my parents. I tried to beat around the bush, but I realized if I just said what I was thinking, I would feel so much better. It’s not easy, but there’s a way to do it.”

So what led to Gomez’s big 2013?

The star says the past year “is when I really started feeling powerful.”

She’d felt that she’d become “very stale with my music, and I realized that I was doing things for other people.”

“Then I turned 20, went through a really bad breakup, and realized I needed to pick up everything – I needed to have ‘Come & Get it’ be amazing,” says Gomez. “I wanted it all to be me. I was tired of feeling defeated. All this time, I was so pissed trying to figure out why I felt like such an underdog, and I finally realized I just wasn’t ready.”

She adds, “I’m glad it’s taken me this long to get where I am because now I’m ready for it.”
