It was the Pritchetts (Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Julie Bowen, and Ed O’Neill) versus their significant others (Eric Stonestreet, Ty Burrell, and Sofia Vergara) for bragging rights and glory.

ABC is looking to develop a “Modern Family” spinoff.

The network’s interest in a potential new series has been confirmed, although a specific premise has not been finalized.

According to Deadline, among the primary ideas being explored is a show revolving around Gil Thorpe, the abrasive real estate agent character portrayed by Rob Riggle (see video below).

The Emmy-winning sitcom’s co-creator Steve Levitan is expected to be involved in the process.

Modern Family Stars Stuck In Elevator, Joke About Experience On Twitter

Truth rating: 10

4:25 pm, March 2nd, 2013

(Twitter)

“Modern Family” stars Julie Bowen, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, and Eric Stonestreet found themselves in a sitcom-worthy situation on Friday.

They got stuck in an elevator.

The trio was on its way to a charity event for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Kansas City when their crowded service elevator at the Sheraton Hotel jammed on the third floor.

This being 2013, the entire (not so harrowing) experience was shared on Twitter.

“This is us right now. 45 mins stuck in this elevator,” wrote Ferguson, posting the photo above.

Eventually, they were rescued by a fire department crew (see video below).

Ferguson tweeted, “Finally made it out of the stuck elevator at the one hour mark. At least the firemen in K.C. are cute.”

Stonestreet, who’s from Kansas City, wrote, ”I honestly handled being stuck in an elevator for 50min better than I thought. All @jessetyler did was pass wind.”
