‘The View’: Joy Behar Returns, Candace Cameron Bure and Paula Faris Debut in Season 19 Premiere

Goldberg joked of the series' faceless mug logo, "Where are the pictures of the faces? We used to have pictures of the faces because people stuck around," while Behar added, "This [design] is in case they want to get rid of any of us!"

The View returned rebooted (again) on Tuesday morning for its season 19 premiere with a panel featuring mainstay Whoopi Goldberg and last season's addition Raven-Symone welcoming returning co-host Joy Behar and newcomers Michelle Collins, Paula Faris and Candace Cameron Bure.

The episode kicked off with a clip featuring Scandal star Tony Goldwyn, prepping Behar over the phone for the premiere. "In the words of Donald Trump, it's gonna be tremendous, it's gonna be huge," she said with a smile.

After an introduction from Goldberg and lengthy applause from the audience, Behar laughed of the morning show's early call time, "I'm happy to be back, but when I saw my husband sleeping this morning when I was getting dressed to come here, I said, 'What did I do?! What did I do?!' "

The panel poked fun at their oft-rotating personalities, as Goldberg jokingly complained about the series’ new mug design of just the logo and the show’s hashtag and Twitter handle. “Where are the pictures of the faces? We used to have pictures of the faces because people stuck around. Come on,” she said, alluding to last season’s exiting panelists Rosie O’Donnell, Rosie Perez and Nicole Wallace. Behar then added, “This [design] is in case they want to get rid of any of us!”

The “Hot Topics” segment featured a discussion on Kentucky clerk Kim Davis, who was arrested and jailed for refusing to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples because of her religious beliefs. During the late-morning debate, Faris apparently misquoted Goldberg after the commercial break, and Behar said “Let me finish” to an interrupting Symone. Though Collins dug at Davis’ physical appearance (“[Married] four times? Have you seen the lady?! I’m serious, she’s a monster!”), as she did during her previous guest-host appearances, she also offered much-needed comedic relief: “My dream is that she stays in jail long enough to get gay-married herself.”

Bure was introduced nearly halfway into the episode, noting that she won’t be appearing daily until she finishes shooting the Netflix reboot series Fuller House in November. “I’m happy when I will be here, I’ll miss you all desperately because this is like new friendships, this is new fun for me, and I’m happy to be a part of this team,” she said before the panel dished on their Netflix binge-watching preferences. They also poked fun at Sarah Palin for her recent comment on how people in the U.S. should “speak American.”

The series premiere – which included Sen. Elizabeth Warren and Sleeping With Other People stars Jason Sudeikis and Alison Brie as guests – wasn't without its technical snafus. Goldberg noted at one point that she appeared blue on a nearby monitor. "Good god, I'm a black woman!" she shouted.
