Taylor Swift effectively shut down Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angeles on Thursday night for a concert on “Jimmy Kimmel Live.” The singer performed for more than 15,000 fans, some of whom had been camped out since morning, in her first late-night appearance to promote her new album, 1989. Swift sang “Shake It Off,” and “Out Of The Woods.”

Prior to the concert, Swift sat down with Jimmy Kimmel to discuss how, as a 14-year-old, she snuck into “Jimmy Kimmel Live” and tried to get the show’s music booker to hear her play, but was kicked out of the building because she was underaged and in a part of the studio where alcohol was being served. (As retribution, Kimmel had the music booker, who still works on of the show, kicked out of the building.) Swift also talked why she loves the song “Clean,” how she’s been posting some of her new songs’ lyrics online, and the way she kept 1989 under wraps. The singer revealed that anyone who wanted to hear the album had to listen to it off of her phone with earphones because of her “irrational fear of eavesdropping.”

Swift is making the media rounds to celebrate the 1989 release on Monday. That day she’ll appear on “Good Morning America,” and then again on that Thursday. In between, on Wednesday, Swift will be featured on “The View.”

As Gossip Cop has reported, 1989 marks a departure from Swift’s past records. This is her first official pop album, and select groups of fans have already gotten to hear the whole record through her “Secret Sessions” listening parties. Everyone else has at least gotten tastes through the releases of “Shake It Off,” “Out of the Woods,” and “Welcome To New York,” plus snippets of “Style” and more.
