‘How I Met Your Dad’ Adds ‘Masters of Sex’ Star, ‘Mixology’ Actor

The new gang is starting to fill out nicely.

How I Met Your Dad, the potential spinoff of How I Met Your Mother, has added two more actors: Nick D'Agosto (Masters of Sex) in the regular role of Frank and Andrew Santino in the "guest star" role of Danny. For the latter, currently starring on ABC's Mixology, the role is in second position.

In the spirit of outgoing How I Met Your Mother, the spinoff tells a similar story from a female POV. It's being billed as a brand-new story with new characters and a new voice at its center -- that of Sally (Greta Gerwig.)

D'Agosto and Santino join Gerwig, Drew Tarver and Krysta Rodriguez in the series' cast, which is now nearing completion. Frank (Agosto) is the head of IT for Juliet's (Rodriguez) fashion blog, while Danny (Santino) is the older, uptight lawyer brother of Sally.

How I Met Your Dad counts Emily Spivey and How I Met Your Mother co-creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas as executive producers. The trio are penning the script, and Mother director Pam Fryman will direct and join as EP. The 20th Century Fox Television comedy hybrid pilot will film in Los Angeles, though it will move to New York if it goes to series.

Elsewhere in CBS pilots, Wendell Pierce joins Matthew Perry's Odd Couple reboot as Teddy. More bad news for the increasingly unlikely renewal of The Michael J Fox Show.

Additionally,  Nancy Lenehan  comes on board the Matt Damon and Ben Afflecks exec-produced More Time With Family as Barb -- the mother of Tom Papa's central character.

Nicholas D'Agosto is repped by UTA, Santino is at CAA and Pierce is with Paradigm.
