Telltale Announces ‘Game of Thrones’ Video Game

Having already brought The Walking Dead and DC/Vertigo's Fables to pixelated life, video game company Telltale Games today revealed that it is turning its attentions towards Westeros, with the announcement of a new episodic game based on HBO's Game of Thrones series.

The game, part of a multi-year, multiple title deal between Telltale and HBO, will debut for consoles, mobile devices and PC/Mac platforms in 2014, according to today's news. Josh Goodstadt, director of global licensing for HBO, said that the game will bring "a whole new dimension" to the series. "Our fans are always looking for new, exciting ways to engage with the Game of Thrones brand," he continued. "This game series will put them right in the middle of the action by letting them decide where the story will lead."

"Working with HBO to develop a new game series based on Game of Thrones is a natural fit for our studio," Telltale co-founder and CEO, Dan Connors said in a statement accompanying the announcement. "This partnership will create an experience that will captivate the huge, global Game of Thrones audience. It will put them in control of the epic stories of warfare, intrigue, violence and revenge that we know and love."
