Olivia Munn has issues.
“The Newsroom” and Magic Mike star reveals in a new interview that she suffers from social anxiety and a disorder called trichotillomania that forces her to impulsively pull out her eyelashes.
Ouch.
“I don’t bite my nails, but I rip out my eyelashes,” Munn tells the New York Daily News.
She explains, “It doesn’t hurt, but it’s really annoying. Every time I run out of the house, I have to stop and pick up a whole set of fake eyelashes.”
For anyone wondering, trichotillomania (or trichotillosis) is an often chronic impulse control disorder, more present in women than men, that leads sufferers to break off their hair.
Munn says that her extreme anxiety is also manifested in social situations, where she feels uncomfortable despite her good looks and on-camera confidence.
“As an Air Force kid, I moved around a lot when I was younger and no one was nice to the new kid,” recalls the actress. “So there is always this feeling that someone will make fun of me.”
