Christian Bale choked up while remembering his Dark Knight costar Heath Ledger at the MTV Movie Awards on Sunday night.
The actor took the stage to promote The Dark Knight Rises along with Gary Oldman and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, first introducing footage from Bale’s previous Batman films.

After seeing Ledger in his legendary role as The Joker in the clip, Bale was visibly shaken and on the verge of tears.

“Man great to remember Heath,” said Bale, bowing his head and taking a moment to fight back the urge to cry.
“Great to see Heath Ledger there,” he added in a shaky voice.
