Insect Cupcake Party Looks Delicious, Disgusting

Who wants a slice of grasshopper and meal worm cake? This was the release party for “The Insect Cookbook” in The Netherlands. It featured an attempt to set the record for World's Largest Grasshopper Cake. Don't know if they have much competition on that front, but best of luck!

A caramelized grasshopper is used to decorate a cake made of insects at the University of Wageningen April 17, 2012. Research by scientists at the university showed that insects could provide the best source of protein to meet the needs of a rising population. Currently, 70 percent of agricultural land is used for livestock production.
