LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Frenchman Michel Hazanavicius won the Oscar for best directing on Sunday for "The Artist."
The silent, black-and-white movie focuses on a film star whose career suffers because he fails to embrace the talkies.
It was Hazanavicius' first Oscar win, and his first nomination.
