Cher is the victim of a death hoax.
A rumor that the pop cultural icon had died spread like wildfire on Twitter overnight Thursday and into Friday morning, apparently tied to a sick joke that got out of hand.
“RIP Cher” became a trending topic, only further fueling speculation.
It is 100% false.
Cher is alive and well.
A similarly sick, untrue rumor “killed” Rihanna earlier this month.
Of course, nasty pranks about celebrities “dying” have become more and more common in the age of Twitter and other social media.
Gossip Cop fails to see the humor.
