Ellen Pompeo Blasts Emmys As “Dated” and Disappointing

Ellen Pompeo was not a fan of Sunday’s Emmy Awards.

The “Grey’s Anatomy” star says she was “really disappointed” in the broadcast.

“I didn’t see any diversity in the Emmys at all. The Emmys felt so dated to me,” Pompeo is quoted by the Associated Press as saying on Monday.

She adds, “That dance number was embarrassing. Did you see one person of color in that dance number?”

By contrast, says the actress, “Grey’s Anatomy” is a more accurate reflection of the world.

“I’m extremely proud of our very, very diverse cast which represents the world that I walk around in every day,” explains Pompeo.

The end of Sunday’s Emmys was just the beginning of the night for television’s biggest stars, who kept the festivities going at various after-parties.

Winners and losers mingled together and posed for pictures at the annual Governors Ball, as well as bashes thrown by FOX and HBO.

They were also joined by some faces who weren’t at the awards show.

Michael Douglas Slams U.S. Prison System in Speech Backstage at Emmys (VIDEO)

Michael Douglas questioned the U.S. prison system backstage at the Emmys on Sunday, elaborating on a shout-out to his incarcerated son Cameron during the actor’s earlier acceptance speech.

Speaking with reporters, Douglas lamented that he’s been unable to visit Cameron, who’s currently in solitary confinement even though he was convicted for non-violent drug offenses.

“Obviously at first, I was certainly disappointed with my son,” said the star. “But I’ve reached a point now where I’m very, very disappointed with the system.”
