Bobbi Kristina Brown: I’m Officially Engaged to Nick Gordon, We’re NOT Brother And Sister

Truth rating: 10

1:08 pm, July 10th, 2013

(Instagram)

Bobbi Kristina Brown says she’s officially engaged to Nick Gordon, and wants everyone to know he’s not her brother.

The daughter of Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown, who has been referring to her longtime boyfriend on Twitter and Instagram as her “fiancé,” took to Facebook early Wednesday morning to set the record straight on the nature of their relationship.

“YES, we me nick are engaged,” she announced, going on to write, ”I’m tired of hearing people say ‘eww your engaged to your brother or if Whitney was still alive would we be together or would she approve of this.’”

She continued:

Let me clear up something, we aren’t even real brother and sister nor is he my adoptive brother. My mom never adopted him. In fact, mommy was the one who even said that she knew that we were going to start dating. My mom knows me better than any of you. A lot of yall are saying that yall are only saying this all out of love. Which is bull because if that was so, all you would want is for me to be happy.  People need to seriously stop judging my relationship. Pretty sure it’s my own decision who I want to be with. Yes, my relationship may not be perfect. We will have rough patches, just like every other relationship. And we have had our rough patches. You may or may not agree with my relationship. You may or may not respect it. Judge me, go ahead. Your opinions are yours and mine are mine. It is my life and not yours. The decisions I make have nothing to do with you.

Brown and Gordon first told their family they were engaged last fall, but now the 20-year-old seems to be making things extra-official.

Houston tragically passed away in February of 2012 at the age of 48.

Cissy Houston holds her daughter Whitney responsible for her own death.

“Good mothers and good fathers and good families don’t always have great children,” the matriarch said on Monday’s “Today Show.”

Appearing on the show to discuss her new memoir, Whitney: My Story of Love, Loss, and the Night the Music Stopped, Cissy explained, “It’s all [the children’s] responsibility when they get to a certain age to choose their way.”

“She was taught,” Cissy said. “She knew her way.”

Houston was 48 when she was found dead last February at the Beverly Hilton Hotel the night before the Grammy Awards.

It was later determined she died from an accidental drowning, although cocaine use was deemed a contributing factor.

When asked about Bobby Brown’s possible negative influence on her daughter, Cissy was largely dismissive.

“I know he didn’t help her. I don’t blame him,” she said, adding, ”Everybody is responsible for their own actions up to a point. She was raised, she knew better, and whatever took her to that position, I really don’t know.”

Cissy also opened up about her own relationship with Whitney, and coming to terms with her tragic death.
