Daniel Radcliffe is being lined up to play legendary Queen star Freddie Mercury,” claims the Daily Star.

As Gossip Cop previously reported, Sacha Baron Cohen dropped out of a long-planned biopic in July, and now the British tabloid claims “producers are keen to bag Radcliffe, and are prepared to offer him big money to tempt him to play the gay singer.”

“Daniel has been told the part is his if he wants it,” a so-called “source” tells the Daily Star.

The alleged snitch continues, saying in totally unnatural language, “Despite his youth, Daniel impressed movie bosses with his portrayal of gay poet Allen Ginsburg in this year’s movie Kill Your Darlings.”

“Plus, he’s closer in height to Freddie than Sacha, who’s much taller. Daniel can really sing, too,” adds the paper’s supposed source.

While it’s true Radcliffe can belt a tune, he is NOT going to be playing Mercury.

In fact, the actor’s camp says he’s never even been contacted by anyone associated with the project.

Oops.

There’s a fierce battle to play Freddie Mercury’s female BFF in the late rocker’s upcoming biopic, according to Star.

Lady Gaga, Katy Perry and Kristen Stewart are on the short list for [Mary Austin], who played a huge role in Freddie’s life,” reports a so-called “source” for the tabloid.

According to the Star insider, “They all desperately want the part, and it’s getting ugly!”

The magazine says leading man Sacha Baron Cohen “will have the final say, and each starlet is lobbying hard to win the role. But the actor is already sick of the women’s catty antics.”

“With the girls fighting like this, it’s just hurting their chances of getting the part,” claims the Star “informant.”

Uh-huh.

None of this is true.

Star simply took three gigantic names in order to manufacture controversy around a high-profile upcoming production.

Sources close to the situation tell Gossip Cop they have heard of no casting conversations involving Gaga, while Stewart and Perry insiders inform us that neither star is in discussions for the project.

The names supposedly included on the Mary Austin “shortlist” are the result of pure, baseless speculation by Star’s sources, and the alleged “ugly” cat fight among Perry, Gaga and Stewart is a figment of their imagination.
