Ronda Rousey was beaten Sunday at UFC 193 by Holly Holm in the second round of their match at Etihad Stadium in Melbourne, Australia, and now stars are reacting to the shocking defeat. See celebrity reactions to Rousey being knocked out by a kick to the head by Holm. See video below.
Rousey was right from the start when Holm connected with her opponent’s nose in the first round. Shortly after the second round began, Holm dropped Rousey with a hard kick to the head, and a few follow-up punches as she lay on the octagon’s canvas. The previously undefeated Rousey was immediately taken to a local hospital where her split-open lip was sewn close. UFC president Dana White later announced a rematch was already in the works.
Bella Thorne tweeted, “Can’t wait to see @RondaRousey back in the ring @ufc #AlwaysAChamp.” And Anna Paquin wrote, “I’m stunned but incredibly impressed,” adding, “#HollyHolm really fought an extraordinary fight.” Miles Teller felt, “Tough to watch the great ones fall but damn Holly Holm what a performance. Holm vs Cyborg and then bring back Rowdy!”
An incredulous Arsenio Hall stated, “I can’t believe what I saw tonight.” Beth Behrs was similarly surprised. She tweeted, “Ho. Lee. [Expletive]. @_HOLLYHOLM!” And former heavyweight boxing champ Lennox Lewis expressed, “Great fight @_HOLLYHOLM Congrats on the big win!@RondaRousey Keep ur head up and come back focused!#UFC193.”
“Wow. Congrats @_HOLLYHOLM! You just made #Ufc history and shocked the world!… Respect to @RondaRousey @ufc #UFC193,” noted Rosie Perez. Meanwhile, Nick Jonas offered his congratulations to “new champion @_HOLLYHOLM blown away by this fight.” Mario Lopez also wrote, “Congrats @_HOLLYHOLM you just made @UFC history & shocked the world! Much respect to @RondaRousey, you’ll be back.”
