Michael Sam will reportedly be signed to the Dallas Cowboys practice squad.
The defensive end, who was cut by the St. Louis Rams over the weekend after his historic drafting by the team last spring, will take a physical for the Cowboys on Wednesday, according to multiple reports.
If Sam passes his physical and there are no other complications, it’s expected the former University of Missouri star will join the team’s practice squad.
While he wouldn’t be on the Cowboys’ official 53-man roster for the start of the season, he’d be one step closer to becoming the first openly gay NFL player.
