CBS Television Studios is locking up The Good Wife creators Robert and Michelle King.
The pair behind the critical darling has inked a new three-year overall deal with the studio, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. Under the new pact, the husband-and-wife duo will continue on as executive producers/showrunners on The Good Wife as well as develop new projects for the studio.
Additionally, the Kings have received a put-pilot commitment for Brain Dead, a D.C.-set comedy-horror project. Brain Dead, which like The Good Wife hails from the studio and Scott Free, is described as The West Wing meets The Strain and will be an hourlong comedy-horror show. The Kings will write and executive produce. Scott Free's Ridley Scott and David Zucker also will exec produce.
The news comes after The Good Wife's Julianna Margulies recently took home the Emmy for best actress in a drama series for her starring role on the show. During its run, The Good Wife has earned 36 Primetime Emmy nominations, 10 Golden Globe noms, seven SAG noms and won a prestigious Peabody Award in 2011.
The Kings are repped by Paradigm and Del Shaw.
The Kings join a roster of producers at the studio including Ryan Seacrest, James Patterson, Taylor Elmore, Jennie Snyder Urman, Doug Ellin, Shane Brennan, Neal Baer, Gary Glasberg, Don McGill, and Ann Donahue.
