CBS is kicking off awards season with the Hollywood Film Awards, scheduling the show for Friday, Nov. 14, and carving out big pre- and post-show activities.

The network will create a three-and-a-half-hour programming event for the annual show, which it revived back in January with a multi-year deal.

The awards will begin at 8 p.m. from the Hollywood Palladium and air live on the east coast until 10 p.m. (Pacific zones will be tape delayed.) A host, presenters and performers will be announced at a later date.

Before the two-hour show, CBS will host a live half-hour red-carpet show featuring interviews with the stars as they arrive for the event. Following the show, CBS will return live (on the East Coast) with an hourlong show hosted by CBS This Morning's Charlie Rose, Norah O'Donnell and Gayle King from 10-11 p.m.

“We’re excited to schedule an expanded Friday night lineup to celebrate the kick-off of the annual awards season with the first live broadcast of the Hollywood Film Awards,” said Nina Tassler, CBS Entertainment chairman. “For almost two decades, the evening has been limited to industry insiders. Teaming with dick clark productions and CBS This Morning, we look forward to giving viewers across the country a front row seat to the entire night, from red carpet arrivals to honorees’ backstage reactions.”

The Hollywood Film Awards joins a rapidly growing slate of awards shows that includes staples such as the Academy Awards, Emmys, Grammys and Golden Globes. ABC alone now broadcasts the Oscars (up 10 percent last year among the key adults 18-49 demo) and the American Music Awards (up 32 percent), among others. CBS will now air nine awards shows, followed by NBC (six) and Fox (two). Cable networks have also joined the party, and there are now at least 19 awards shows televised between Jan. 1 and the Oscars on March 2. (Full disclosure: The Hollywood Film Awards is owned by affiliates of THR parent company Guggenheim Partners.)
