Beyonce Gets Choked Up Singing \’Blue\’ – ARTICLE

Beyonce put on an epic, lengthy medley from her "Beyonce" album at the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday.

While performing an excerpt of her song "Blue"(about 2-year-old daughter Blue Ivy), she faced a screen behind her on which footage of herself, baby Blue and husband Jay Z was projected.

Toward the end of the song, Bey became visibly emotional, her eyes glistening with tears as she looked out in to the VMA audience where Jay was holding Blue on his lap.

The performance ended with Beyonce singing "XO," before Jay Z – holding Blue – made his way onto the stage to kiss the "Flawless" singer and then presented her with the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award.

"The recipient of the Vanguard Award, and the greatest living entertainer, Beyonce!" Jay said, as Blue clapped for her mom.

"I'm so full. I have nothing to say, but I'm filled with so much gratitude," Bey said, wiping tears from her face. "I just thank God for this moment. I love y'all so much.

"Blue Blue, I love you! My beloved, I love you," she continued, referencing her daughter and husband. "My fans, I love you. MTV, I love you. Goodnight."

Previous winners of the Vanguard Award include Justin Timberlake (2013), Britney Spears (2011) and more.
