Lamar Odom has quit Spanish basketball team Laboral Kutxa after injuring his spine.

A spokesperson for the team tells Us Weekly, “The tests carried out in New York by Lamar Odom’s trusted medical team, with the knowledge of the club, have shown that the player is suffering from Lumbar Radiculitis, which could keep him out of action for up to two months.”

Lumbar Radiculitis is a spine injury that causes back pain.

The rep adds that the athlete has therefore terminated his “current contractual relationship with the club,” but said Odom would be welcome back to the team if and when he recovers completely.

Odom said in a statement, “This is something that is beyond my control. There’s a difference between a part of your body that’s hurt and a part of your body that’s injured. It’s up to me as a responsible athlete to — if I’m injured — to take care of it. I think everything happens for a reason.”

Khloe Kardashians ex-husband has since returned to the U.S.

The news of his leaving the team comes just one month after Odom signed with Laboral Kutxa.
