Glee Pays Tribute to Cory Monteith Again in Emotional “City of Angels” Episode

Pass the tissues! Glee surprised fans with a second emotional tribute to the late Cory Monteith's character Finn Hudson on the Tuesday, March 11 "City of Angels" episode. While competing at Nationals, William McKinley High School's glee club New Directions dedicated their performance to Hudson while his mom and step-dad watched in the audience.

The glee club concluded their three-song set with U2's "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For." "This was Finn's favorite song," Carole Hudson-Hummel (Romy Rosemont) told husband Burt Hummel (Mike O'Malley) with tears in her eyes. "They're singing all of his favorite songs."

During the moving performance, TV audiences saw flashback clips of Hudson's memorable moments on the Fox musical series. At the end of the song, Sam Evans (Chord Overstreet) pulled out Hudson's beloved drumsticks and held them proudly in the air. After Sam exited the stage, he cried in glee club coach Mr. Schuester's arms.

Monteith died from a drug overdose in July 2013 at the age of 31. His sudden death caused Glee co-creator Ryan Murphy to write his character off the show.
