Katherine Heigl is distancing herself from her meddling mom in a desperate attempt to save her Hollywood career,” begins a breathless piece from the National Enquirer.

The mag says the actress recently landed the lead role on an untitled new NBC show, but claims she’s “so worried about her diva reputation that she banned her high-powered ‘momager’ Nancy from the set.”

A so-called “source” tells the tabloid, “Katherine knows her new TV show is her last chance to prove she’s not too difficult to employ,” adding, “She’s very concerned that her mom has hurt her career, so she told her it would be best if she kept her distance from the production.”

The purported “insider” further alleges that Heigl is “seriously considering ditching her mom and hiring new management.”

Really?

Nope.

In fact, Heigl’s mother Nancy is actually executive producing the new series along with her daughter.

And a rep for the Knocked Up star said the magazine’s story is totally FALSE.

Oops.
