Those more knowledgeable than myself have noted the scene didn't get the axe until late in the game, as evidenced by the animation making it to the clean-up stage of production.
Speculation is the scene, while mild, would've been off-putting to Disney's middle class Caucasian cash cow and was cut by a leery producer. Which is a damn shame.
