The Dark Knight Rises Beats Wimpy Kid & Total Recall (UPDATED)

BOX OFFICE

(Warner Bros.)

For the third straight weekend, The Dark Knight Rises is expected to beat the box office competition.

Christian Bale’s final Batman turn is tracking toward $36 million, which would be enough to hold off the newly opened Total Recall remake ($26 million) and Diary of a Wimpy Kid 3 ($17 million).

In its fourth week, Ice Age 4 is projected to hit $8 million and the #4 spot.

Two raunchy comedies, The Watch and Ted, are neck and neck in the race for fifth place, with both movies on pace for about $5.5 million.

Step Up Revolution, the latest in the dance franchise, is expected to earn about $4.8 million, edging out The Amazing Spider-Man ($4.5 million).

Brave ($2.5 million) and Magic Mike ($1.5 million) should close out the Top 10.
