Vanessa Williams is breaking her silence on the traumas she suffered as a child and a young teen.
In an interview featured on “Nightline” on Tuesday to promote her memoir “You Have No Idea,” the former beauty queen reveals she was molested at the age of 10, and that she had an abortion while in high school.

The molestation, in which Williams claims she was violated by an 18-year-old female during a family trip, led her to be “highly sexualized” later on, she says.
“Because it feels good, you’re like, OK, well this is supposed to be normal,” the “Desperate Housewives” explains the actress, adding, “That’s not normal for a 10-year-old to be seduced.”
Of discovering she was pregnant while still a teen, which — like the molestation — she hid from her mother, Williams says she “knew in high school that’s something that I was not prepared to do, or fight, or struggle with.”
Since then, the mother of four says she’s “learned to embrace my past.”
“I embrace the choices that I have been given in my life,” she says.
