Nicole Richie and Joel Madden are having money issues, according to the National Enquirer.
Specifically, Madden supposedly thinks Richie spends too much of it.
The tabloid claims the Good Charlotte rocker “constantly scolds” his wife for her shopping habits, which the Enquirer says are “putting a big dent in her bank account and straining her marriage!”
“Joel thinks Nicole is spend-crazy,” explains a so-called “source,” who alleges that Richie always agrees to his budget restraints and then goes on wild shopping sprees.
The Enquirer cites some good-natured comments Madden made about Richie’s spending on Twitter and tries to make it seem as though the couple is in crisis.
“They love each other a lot, but the squabbling over money is putting stress on Joel and Nicole’s marriage,” alleges the mag’s “source.”
Fascinating.
It would be more fascinating, of course, if Richie and Madden didn’t publicly joke about her shopping hobby, and if the Enquirer wasn’t on a floundering mission to break up their marriage with bogus claims.
It’s not news that Richie likes to shop, and it’s not surprising that the tabloid is desperately – and wrongly – trying to turn it into a major marital issue.
