Kirk Cameron is being slammed for characterizing homosexuality as “unnatural… detrimental, and ultimately destructive” during a Friday appearance on “Piers Morgan Tonight.”

On the show, the host asked the “Growing Pains” actor (and prominent born-again Christian) about his views on gay marriage and homosexuality.

“I believe that marriage was defined by God a long time ago… defined in the [Garden of Eden] between Adam and Eve,” replied Cameron, continuing, “So I would never attempt to try to redefine marriage, and I don’t think anyone else should either. So do I support the idea of gay marriage? No, I don’t.”

Morgan then asked, “Do you think homosexuality is a sin?”

Cameron answered, “I think that it’s unnatural. I think that it’s detrimental, and ultimately destructive to so many of the foundations of our civilization.”

The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) has now reacted, telling TMZ that Cameron is “out of step with a vast majority of Americans, particularly people of faith who believe that their gay and lesbian brothers and sisters should be loved and accepted based on their character and not condemned because of their sexual orientation.”
