“Gay icon Ellen DeGeneres is urging Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie to abandon their pledge not to wed until gay marriage is legal,” reports the National Enquirer.
According to the tabloid, “The popular talk show host and her wife Portia de Rossi met with Brad in New Orleans and advised him to wed Angelina, his partner of seven years, to make their kids happy.”
DeGeneres is quoted as telling Pitt during the “dramatic” March 9 meeting, “You guys can get hitched AND still fight the good fight for marriage equality.”
A nameless “friend” explains to the Enquirer that DeGeneres’ words “lifted a huge weight off Brad’s shoulders. Now he feels he and Angie can move forward in good conscience with their wedding plans.”
Here’s what’s actually going on.
Tabloids, including the Enquirer, are being driven nuts by the lack of Pitt and Jolie “wedding news,” and in their desperation to find reasons to make it seem as though nuptials are imminent, come up with stories like this one.
This alleged Pitt-Jolie marriage blessing never happened.
A DeGeneres insider tells Gossip Cop the story is “ridiculous.”
As we’ve reported dozens of times, Pitt and Jolie may decide to wed in the future, but there are absolutely no plans at the moment, and DeGeneres is not the key to making it all happen.
