The new season of “Dancing with the Stars” kicked off Monday night in a premiere that the judges — including the hard-to-please Len Goodman — called the best first night of performances in the show’s history.
“Family Matters” alum Jaleel White earned one of the highest scores of the evening, and host Tom Bergeron said there was “not even a trace of Urkel” in his movements.

Jennifer Lopez’s “I’m Into You” music video co-star, William Levy, also stood out, and Bruno Tonioli made a point to tell the handsome young man that he was “underdressed.”
Sherri Shepherd got positive feedback from the judges as well, and won some laughs from the crowd when she joked after her routine that she thought she “lost a boob” out on the dance floor.
Katherine Jenkins tied White for the top score of the night, and Roshon Fegan, Jack Wagner and Donald Driver also gave strong performances.
Overall, the dancing neophytes all did a really nice job.
