“Disco Inferno” Singer Jimmy Ellis Dies

Jimmy Ellis, the man behind the era-defining anthem “Disco Inferno,” has died.

He was 74.

The singer died of complications from Alzheimer’s Disease.

Ellis fronted The Trammps, whose “Disco Inferno” track was included in the landmark Saturday Night Fever soundtrack and became one of the most memorable tunes of the late 1970s.

The group won Grammys for their efforts, and Ellis continued to tour with The Trammps until 2010.
