“Sparkle, the movie that could have been Whitney Houston’s acting comeback, is going to be released earlier than the original August release date, because of the tragic death of the singer,” reports RadarOnline.
According to the webloid’s so-called “studio insider,” “The reasoning is that Whitney’s fans will want to see her in this movie… The movie is in post-production right now, and it could be released as soon as Memorial Day.”
The alleged “insider” adds, “The studio bosses want the public to remember Whitney as a brilliant performer and stunning actress. The execs are going to be sensitive to her death and will communicate with her family at an appropriate time.”
And fans will see a brilliant performance, but not until August.
A Sony spokesman tells Gossip Cop exclusively, the RadarOnline story about an early release for Sparkle is “not true.”
Houston was found dead on Saturday in a room in the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
As we previously reported, Houston’s remake of the 1976 film Sparkle is set to hit theaters in August.
