Super Bowl XLVI was the most-watched network broadcast in television history, according to updated Nielsen ratings.

The close contest between the New England Patriots and the New York Giants delivered 111.3 million viewers to edge last year’s total of 111 million.

Meanwhile, “The Voice” has something to sing about, too.

NBC’s singing competition series, which premiered its second season immediately after the game, was watched by 36.7 million viewers and scored a 16.3 rating in the 18-49 demo.

Those numbers make “The Voice” the highest-rated non-sports telecast in six years.

“Grey’s Anatomy,” following the Super Bowl in 2006, was the last entertainment program to do as well as “The Voice” did on Sunday.

It was the best performance for an NBC show since the “Friends” series finale in 2004.
