Newark is the latest New Jersey city to ban “Jersey Shore” stars Snooki and JWoww from filming their MTV spin-off.

Weeks after the mayor of Hoboken denied producers a permit “based on protecting public safety and quality of life concerns,” Newark’s Cory Booker has announced a similar decision.

In a letter to 495 Productions, the company behind the spin-off, Booker says, “While we appreciate your desire to film and capture the essence of our great city, we are confident that the filming of this show will most certainly attract a high level of local and national attention and notoriety.”

Booker explains that his “first priority is the safety and well-being of citizens and visitors,” who he says would be put at risk if emergency personnel are forced to respond to any potential incidents caused by the production.

Of course, the highly anticipated show does have a home base.

As Gossip Cop previously reported, Jerramiah Healy, the mayor of Jersey City, already granted a permit for the spin-off to film there.

But it looks like Newark’s “essence” will not be seen by Snooki and JWoww’s TV viewers.
