Whitney Houston was discovered in her bathtub by a member of her personal staff, Beverly Hills Police Department Lt. Mark Rosen confirmed in a Monday news conference regarding the singer’s death.

Rosen said Houston’s body was pulled from the tub, and that she was unconscious and unresponsive to CPR attempts by emergency responders.

He refused to comment on the cause of death, explaining that the police department had ceded control of the investigation to the L.A. Coroner’s Office, which is still waiting for toxicology results.

Rosen stressed that press speculation of cops finding prescription drugs and alcohol in Houston’s hotel room did not come from police department sources.

Reports have swirled that Houston may have drowned and/or suffered a heart attack after ingesting a combination of booze and pills.

At Monday’s conference, the Beverly Hills Police Department made it clear that they won’t be confirming any of those theories in the near future.
