Jan Berenstain, Co-Creator of Berenstain Bears, Has Died at 88

Jan Berenstain, co-creator of the Berenstain Bears, has died.

She was 88.

Berenstain suffered a stroke last Thursday and died on Friday.

With her husband Stan (who died in 2005), Jan gave birth to one of the most enduring and beloved series of children’s books in history.

Beginning with “The Big Honey Hunt” in 1962, the couple’s Berenstain Bears family was featured in more than 300 titles, selling more than 260 million copies.

They are survived by their two sons and four grandchildren.
