VIDEOAretha Franklin, who will sing at Whitney Houston’s funeral, spoke about her goddaughter’s passing on Friday’s “Today Show.”
The soul legend tells Al Roker she found out about Houston’s death while watching television.
“I just jumped up, off the side of the bed… ‘What? This could not be. What is this?’” recalled Franklin.
Franklin discusses her shock at the news about Houston, her plans to perform at Saturday’s service, Houston’s troubled comeback tour, and a lot more.
Most touching, though, are Franklin’s memories of a young Houston – first as a little girl who visited Franklin’s recording studio, and later when Franklin heard her sing for the first time.
